Velikie Luki citizens are inviting you to take part at the International Hot Air balloon Meet, which is held June 3 – June 11, 2006. Within the same dates the 840-th city anniversary is celebrated. 2-nd Cup of Russia – is a good chance for Russian pilots to increase their ratings, and accordingly, level and prestige of Russian Ballooning. In the framework of Balloon Meet the 2-nd Cup of Velikie Luki is held. The Cup was established by city administration and is organised with the support of Russian Ballooning Federation. Application for (CIA) FAI – “CIA Sporting Event” category to be granted to the 2-nd Cup of Velikie Luki has been submitted.

The jubilee 10-th International Balloon Meet took place in Velikie Luki last year. This significant for the citizens, aeronauts and all ballooning admirers event went with immense success. In the framework of the Meet the following sporting events were held:
The 11-th Russian National Hot Air Balloon Championship
The 9-th Cup of Prominent Russian Aeronauts
The 1-st Velikie Luki Cup
31 balloon teams from different countries participated at the events. USA, Russian, and Dutch pilots took the prizes.
